Heavy weather over Europe

I spent 2 days near Stuttgart, Germany, last week, flying back to Norway Friday night.

I was pretty anxious heading out of Frankfurt airport, as mine was the last outbound plane to Norway, and if there were any delays leaving Germany, I would arrive too late to make it all the way home that evening. Just half an hour delay would break my schedule. So imagine my disappointment when the captain got on the PA announcing exactly that: a half hour delay leaving the gate. The reason? Bad weather.

Fortunately, very soon after we left the gate and started taxiing. After all, flying Lufthansa out of Frankfurt (their hub) has its advantages. Taking off, I noticed a large weather system over the city. We ended up skirting the entire storm on our way out of Frankfurt and north through Germany, and never even hit any turbulence. We even made it to Oslo on time and I made every train I needed to make. Slept in my own bed that evening.

The view out my plane window that evening was spectacular! So I’m sharing it here with you now. Hope you enjoy it! I sure did 🙂
